If there’s one thing that I learned from this test it’s how hard it is to get perfect. To be honest with you, it would have been so easy to just go to the manufacturer and buy my gun, if I didn’t know so much better.
I bought an expensive new magazine, and an expensive new magazine spring as well. I then picked up a decent-sized bolt set. I then got a couple of decent quality paintbrushes for the parts, and a few layers of spray acrylic spray paint, and I went off to buy some additional supplies. But I’ll just leave it to you to find out what those things cost. I think in hindsight I would have picked up a few more products, had I known what I know now.
So here’s the thing. All my attempts at designing a gun were flawed. The most problematic ones were the ones which were the least expensive, and where the parts were very interchangeable, which means they cost little to upgrade. I tried to build a gun that was cheap and easy to modify. The gun was too simplistic to be effective in a realistic environment, but it was fun to play around with. The gun that I ended up using was a pretty simple design – a basic semi-auto rifle that was fired from a wooden barrel made from two layers of 2mm plywood. It was not really practical because it took up a ton of space, and it didn’t really look good out in the wilderness.
In the end, the most realistic gun I ever made was a simple and simple gun that cost absolutely nothing to make and was pretty popular in the hobby community for several years. I got to be very competitive, and I am glad that I did.
