The most common way to do this is for an arm to have its length bent, so the skin can get into the loop.
This creates two possibilities though:
The skin on the inside of the loop can have an extra section, which can be pulled down. This is called a loop that is too long. However, the skin on the outside of the loop can become longer, and that can cause a bulge on the outside edge of the loop.
The more loop length, the more bulge, so this option is mostly useful for girls/women under 14. However, over 14, you are likely to have a bulging edge.
A few of us can control that bulge by lifting the arm up on a flat surface (such as a pillow) or rolling to move the arm off of a flat surface.
To make the bulge, use your index finger to push your skin down along the outside loop, using your thumb and other fingers to push away and pull back. This keeps the skin as close to the loop as possible.

Is this bad for my arm?
The big concern with this technique is causing bleeding.
But if you’re feeling more in control of your blood flow, that’s completely normal.
For normal bleeding in the arms to happen, you’ll have to have a big skin scar (usually one or two inches long) to be able to have a good stream of blood.

What if the skin on my arm goes back?
As a general rule, if you change your method of healing it will be easier to move it back to normal. Sometimes the skin may be so thick that it’s difficult to bend it back down.
You can use tape or tapered skin graft to get around this problem. But a better approach would be to take a biopsy to take a look at your arm before trying anything else.
I was told not to use any medication (or even alcohol) while doing this procedure. Does it hurt if I drink/do drugs while doing it?
You can use any kind of alcohol or drugs you want. However, if it causes your body to reject whatever you’re trying to repair, you would need to stop and go to a doctor right away.
