What makes a drawing a drawing? – Pencil Sketch Drawing Girl Face

No matter what the artist may think, no one is entirely sure. What the artist thought the artist had drawn are always up for debate. But as we learn, no matter what anyone may think, what makes a drawing a drawing may not be what we think it is. Drawing is always a process of taking something and making it into something else, a story, image, or a symbol that has meaning to a larger audience. That is, it is never a true single object. The artist who creates a drawing is the individual who has created the “thing” that appears on the screen.

What is this thing. Does this thing have an impact on our lives. Does it have an impact on some larger scale. Is it something that we care about? Is it something we know will be of some use to our lives. Is it a symbol for some larger theme we care about. Is it a symbolic representation we care about? All things, however, will be dependent upon your personal choice in how to interpret the drawing, but we can say that at its core, the drawing itself is a story or image.
