Does rustoleum stop rust? – Famous Spray Paint Artists
How much more rustoleum is needed?
What to do if you find rustoleum in your property? How can one know how much more rustoleum is needed?
The only way to be a good rust-trotter is for everyone to do it. If you come into contact with rustoleum, do not use a piece of wood to hold it in place; take it out. (If you want to learn how to do this, please consult a professional. Just because it looks like you did not do anything does not mean you did nothing. If your neighbor has recently cleaned the yard, and you see rustoleum, do not hold it in! It could rust or rot.)
What happens if I don’t remove the rust from the wood?

The wood was treated with a product called a hydroceramide (or a similar compound). Hydroceramide is an oil that is commonly added to hardwood plywood, but can even be found in hardwood plywood treated with other compounds, like lacquer or lacquers. Hydroceramide can cause wood products to absorb water and therefore become “greasy”, so it is not recommended that it be used in treated wood.
When wood is treated with hydroceramide, some of the wood fibers within the wood will become oxidized, causing an unglued surface. This can occur in a number of different ways, such as from oxidation or from oxidation and condensation from evaporation or from rust, etc. These oxidized surfaces can eventually start to chip, warp and crack. In other cases, hydroceramide dries out the wood fibers. This can occur due to moisture in the wood or from condensation (see the photo on the left).
What happens if my house is “bronzed,” or has the “black coating” of rust?
If your house is burned (see photos and details above), the black coating of rust and the carbon and other metals may be removed with either vinegar or acetone/water. The “black coating” may be removed in several different ways. When you wash and sand down or clean your house you will likely see white or tan stains on the floors and some other areas. In some situations it may be difficult or impossible to remove them. Other stains will get smaller and leave a “bronze” appearance. This is a “wipe stain” and can be difficult or impossible to remove with either vinegar or acetone/water.
