To understand it, you have to first know what Delta G is in order to understand a lot of what it means when it comes to the science of chemistry.
What the heck delta-G is?
Delta or deltaG, stands for dissociation constant. In chemistry, one value for the concentration of gaseous substances that is equal to what is left over after all other substances have been dissolved, is “delta”.
By “dissociation constant” of a chemical substance, I mean how long it takes a gas to completely mix with the surrounding air molecule. As far as I’m concerned, the delta value (what it actually looks like) means “dissociability”. A gaseous compound has a delta of 3.33.
How does that work?
Simple enough. Delta represents the amount of gaseous molecules that a given quantity of a specific solvent can take out of the water. Solvent molecules are made from two elements: hydrogen and oxygen.
Hydrogen forms hydrogen bonds which pull hydrogen gas from the solution. These bonds form a chain of carbon atoms known as an oxygen group, or in chemistry “O”. As long as oxygen bonds are made between hydrogen molecules, they are strong and hold atoms together better than any other type of bonds.
The oxygen groups are broken down to their simplest form known as an oxygen atom. The oxygen atom can then be used to form the molecule hydroxypropane (H 2 PO 4 ).
When the gas molecules are dissolved more or less completely in water, they form a “pool” of water molecules. As time passes, these are drawn together to form additional pools. Since water in solution tends to mix, these pools grow and dissolve in the solution, eventually building up into a large pool that forms the actual gas molecules that you see and smell.
This means that what you feel when you ingest a molecule of alcohol as well as the amount of alcohol are linked. For example, an alcohol you ingested a few years ago (1.33 g, that’s 3.33 % dilution) can still be used as fuel today – but because you have a pool of the dissolved material in which to draw upon as it evaporates, you can burn for a much longer period of time.
