How long does it take to become a certified life coach? – The Truth About Life Coaching

One of the things I love most about this job is being able to guide people all the way through any situation. I can work through all the things that I think a coach should already know or understand before I get into the situation. The other thing I like is being able to bring people together because this job really is about people coming together and becoming a better coach.

As a coach, what was your first coaching assignment?

I was hired to coach a group of people at their local church. There was a huge turnout because I was the only person there. I’ve coached people around the country, but the first time I got to work with people who were so committed to helping each other had never been the case. I found it really easy to get people to buy into the way I helped my clients.

What’s your biggest success lesson or accomplishment as a coach?

To make sure I do everything right. Everything I do, I do it properly. Every time I talk to someone at the clinic, I ask them what was one of their biggest mistakes in their life. I ask them and they always say, “I never told my wife to have sex.”

I tell them I taught them that and if I did not give them the right things so they could say they loved their spouse better than they ever do, I was not very good as a coach.

Are there certain aspects of coaching you want to change for the rest of your life? Who or what would you like to be in charge of?

As I mentioned, my job is really about helping people become better people. One of the things that helps me become a better coach is when someone makes a mistake. I always tell new clients there is no one else responsible. It all falls on them because all they had to do was take responsibility for it and all the mistakes that they have made in their past.
