What will happen if people do things differently, when life coaches make recommendations about what’s wrong with their lives, how to improve, what their dreams are, how life coaches can help them?
This has been my question, to a certain degree, for the last couple of years. The answer to that question has been a little more nuanced because I’ve come into my own as an author and a personality and so a life coach more than before. There is a lot of information out there about how I can change things. This is something new for me to look at it that a lot of other writers don’t have the time to look at what some gobsmackingly interesting and insightful life coaches do to get what they want.
I’ve been reading and writing about what people do wrong because it was something I found to be the real root of a lot of the challenges that I faced early on in my career.
There have always been people who get things done and the big problem for them is not what they can’t do but what happens when they try to do things. That wasn’t me. For me, the big problem was how I didn’t get started early enough.
That doesn’t mean that I just wanted to be a successful author – that was another thing I did. It didn’t mean that I just wanted to be “nice.” It wasn’t that I didn’t want to help people. It was that I didn’t know how to start.
That’s why I started out helping people, helping people succeed. Once I became self-motivated, not as a writer and not as a life coach, but as a writer and a life coach, then the first thing I did was ask people to write essays about what they’d been through.
This was pretty common stuff. People were not interested in just what I did, because when people ask people to write about what they’ve been through, the first part will be: “If I could go back, would it have done anything differently?” I remember hearing it at parties. I had just quit a job I had been miserable at. I had lost a career.
“Have you thought about how you’d change things? What were the things you’d change?” The same was true for the other job I’d worked at. When I’d ask people what they did before they quit their job, they tended to say “I started at the bottom. There were a lot of things that were difficult about growing up
