But be careful about “cheap” pencils: the best ones are made from a very high quality plastic

In general you ought to draw about three pages worth of work before starting to sketch

A sketch should be done at least once a week

The sketch should be done on a medium-sized, black, uncoated canvas

What should I put in the pages of my sketches?

A short description of your project. Make sure you know about your area and time. You can make sure you know yourself (which is a bit of a problem!)

What should I put on top of my pages?

It is important for your work to be clear.

For instance if you are a web designer, you might want to sketch a layout on an actual web page to make sure you can easily find the main points or a place for each element.

And last but not least, have a look for your site when you are done drawing. Then you can take the right notes and go on drawing!

What is the “right time” to sketch?

It depends on the project and subject. If you have an hour of free time, it is quite possible that you can draw within the allotted time. If you have less time – you start drawing.

I don’t have the right tools at hand to finish my sketch. Will I be able to make it?

No problem.

If you use a pencil with fine nibs (like fountain or ballpoint), the lines should get blurred out over your sketches.

If you are drawing with a fine point (cotton or water ink), you should be able to draw on your canvas. If you want to make a pencil draw – buy at least a $10 pen holder! (I would suggest a $20 holder with an eraser for a complete set of tools to help you draw).
